Today’s tip on how to help an addicted loved one recover actually comes from my book “Unhooked” and these steps to surrender are:
Figure out where we have control and where we don’t.
Make friends with our worst case scenario and our worst fear.
Let go of your attachment to a specific outcome.
Become willing to grieve the loss in order to let go of that outcome.
Let go and trust a higher power because there is a better plan for our lives and your addicted loved one’s life.
Absolutely believe in the desired outcome. Just let go of the attachment to it.
Actually practice surrender either in a prayer or in writing, knowing that, surrender put into practice, liberates us from fear and emotional battlefields.
